A hilarious and mature satire on highs cool relationships that a wide audience can enjoy thanks to Tina Fey’s clever screenplay. Lindsay Lohan plays Cady Heron, a teenager who has spent most of her life in Africa with her zoologist parents and is now forced to learn all the rules of ‘Girl World’ in a typical American high school. Embraced by the wealthy popular girls known as The Plastics, Cady soon discovers that it’s hard to follow all of their silly rules and listen to the nasty gossip. Perfectly cast and full of former SNL cast-members, this film isn’t the most realistic or insightful exploration of high school, it’s certainly the funniest. Mean Girls is, next to Heathers, one of the best stories of teen queens and wannabes because the audience laughs harder upon realizing that we’ve all experienced something similar. And boy, is this movie quotable – * * * *
