R. 96 mins

Charming, perceptive, and hilarious – Juno wins us over with Diablo Cody’s hip screenplay and a knockout cast. In this twist on a coming-of-age tale, Juno MacGuff (the amazing Ellen Page) is shocked to discover that she is pregnant after one awkward evening with her friend Bleaker (Michael Cera). In a panic, she enlists her best friend to help find a nice young family who might adopt the child. Though some might be turned off by the sarcastic and admittedly unrealistic mannerisms of these characters, Juno is really quite a sweet film. Reitman (Thank You for Smoking) directs and is refreshing in his approach – there isn’t a great attempt at preaching to the audience, even if it revolves around teen pregnancy. It’s not a wonder that Page was nominated for an Oscar because from the first few moments of the film we really want to know this curious teenager and see her journey through to the end. If Juno doesn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what will – * * * *
