Not the most memorable film out there but Away We Go is a touching and often hilarious little road trip worth the ride thanks to the sassy script and heartwarming message. The trip begins when Burt and Verona are told that his parents are moving away and they must now find a new place to raise the baby they are expecting. The couple visits a variety of cities and spend time with their quirky friends and relatives in the hopes of finding a place to call home. Sam Mendes (American Beauty) directs in a surprisingly relaxed fashion, doing away with his typical stylings and opting for a poignant and simple concept instead which allows the actors to have fun and deliver the indie charms. Away We Go is a wee gem worth seeing – * * * 1/2
