Let Me In (2010)

Starring: Chloe Moretz, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese

Directed by: Matt Reeves

R. 115 mins

Cannot compare to the original (Let the Right One In/Låt den rätte komma in) but it’s obvious that Reeves has great respect for the source material. The story is relatively the same – a young boy who is constantly bullied at school dreams of revenge and finds solace in his mysterious new neighbour who just so happens to be a vampire. Let Me In is still haunting and visually stunning with some beautiful performances from Smit-McPhee and Moretz as his vampiric love-interest. Nevertheless, this film loses points for highlighting America’s most irrational phobia – subtitles. Get over it and rent the Swedish masterpiece – * * * 1/2
