Directed by: Julio Medem

UR. 108 mins

A playful feature that seduces, but not much more. Alba (Elena Anaya) is on her last day of vacation in Rome when she encounters Natasha (Natasha Yarovenko), a beautiful Russian tourist. After some initial hesitation, Natasha joins Alba at her hotel and the two share in a night of passion and story telling before they both part ways in the morning. The film is beautifully shot, not that it would be difficult to make these women look stunning, while the soundtrack is just as lovely. The chemistry is there and of course, it’s easy to watch, but there isn’t much going on here except for two gorgeous women speaking to one another in thick accents and multiple languages. There are moments of intellectual promise but ultimately, Room in Rome is nothing more than pornography masquerading as art – * 1/2
